Our next LuCiD seminar is on Tuesday 7th February 2022 (11am UK time - via Zoom). Prof Kathy Rastle (Royal Holloway University of London) will talk about Learning to read.
Abstract: Learning to read is the most important milestone of a child’s education. However, reading is not a universal part of human experience, and global literacy rates are surprisingly low. In the first part of this talk, I will present empirical work showing how instruction and print experience come together to permit rapid, skilled reading. In the second part of the talk, I will describe how we are using reading science to improve global literacy, and how insights from practice are shaping our understanding of the most pressing research questions for the future.
How to join the seminar: This seminar will take place via Zoom. This seminar is free to attend & booking isn't required, just get in touch to request the zoom link and/or location and don't forget to join the seminar mailing list.
