Research
We use multi-method approaches to study how children learn to communicate with language, how the developing brain supports this process, and how it is affected by cross-linguistic, socio-cultural and individual variation. LuCiD’s current research agenda (2019-24) builds on what we have learned in the first five years of the Centre and extends this to three new research streams:
-
From variation to explanation: Understanding development in different learners and different languages.
-
From simple to complex: Scaling up to real-world language learning
-
From oral language to literacy: Beyond 0-5
