A bit about Sharon Freeman

For the past 5 years I have been the EAL Manager at Seymour Park Community Primary School in Old Trafford. This year  I have reduced my hours at school so that I can come and work with LuCiD. My school work involves supporting all our ‘English as an Additional Language’ children and families, including designing and running our very successful English Conversation Class for mums.  In 2012 I studied in the evenings to achieve my certTESOL with Manchester College. Previously, I have supported children with Special Educational Needs in school, and before that, I was Branch Manager for Waterstone’s Booksellers at Swansea University for many years. Too long ago to remember, I graduated from Lancaster University with BSc Environmental Science.

My role in LuCiD

I am very excited to have been appointed as a Research Assistant helping to develop, design and deliver LuCiD’s ‘ESOL Stepping Stones’ project this year, which is an English language teaching programme for non-English speaking low income mothers. It is a fantastic project that is much needed and, hopefully, will have a valuable impact on families and communities across the UK.
