A bit about Charleen List
I am a PhD student at the University of Liverpool. I completed my Bachelor of Health at Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven and received a first class degree for my research on Late Talking children. Afterwards, I worked as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in private practices and in hospitals or geriatric clinics. Following this I completed my Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy at the European University of Applied Sciences in Rostock, Germany. For this project, I looked at sets of spontaneous speech data and I tried to define bootstrapping mechanisms by describing the syntactical development of two year old children. Before coming to Liverpool, I worked as a research assistant in Rostock and as an SLT in Berlin. You can find more of my research on my Research Gate page.
My Role in LuCiD
My PhD will focus on testing two different models of verb-marking error in children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and language-matched controls. I have designed a verb elicitation experiment that I will use to investigate this paradigm in German and English speaking children. I used the findings from my corpus analysis comparing children with DLD and typically developing children to design this verb elicitation experiment. My project is part of the variation theme within LuCiD because it compares two theoretical models cross-linguistically.
